SUCCESS FOR BOSWELLS FOOTBALL TEAMS IN DISTRICT COMPETITIONS
This year has seen success for both the Year 9 and 10 football teams at The Boswells School as they both won their respective district competitions at the end of long seasons this Easter.
The Year 9’s had success in their District League as they finished the season as league champions. On the back of a good Essex Cup run that saw them reach the last-16 before going down to a last-minute goal against Brentwood School, the boys finished the season unbeaten in the league with 7 wins and 1 draw (coming back from 3-0 down in that came to preserve their unbeaten status) from their 8 games to finish top of the pile.
The Year 10 boys finally managed to get one over old rivals St Martins – who knocked them out of the Essex Cup early in the season – by beating them in the Final of the District Cup 2-1 thanks to a last-minute Lewis Davis goal. The result is even more sweet for the boys who had finished as runners-up in the District competition to St Martins in years 7, 8 and 9 before finally getting over the line in the Year 10 Cup final.
PE teacher Callum Ridgway said, “It’s been another excellent season for all the football teams here at school, but especially for the Year 9 and 10 teams who managed to win their respective competitions.
With the football season over for the summer, all training for all years groups will begin again in September – for old faces or new.
