Munich Trip 2018!
On 5th December, 50 Year 9 German students travelled to Munich for 4 days to practise their German and experience the German culture. Within a few hours of arriving, they visited Dachau Concentration Camp and learnt about life as a prisoner. On the Thursday they spent the morning hiking up to and having a guided tour in the well-known fairy-tale Castle Neuschwansteinschloss. Unfortunately it did not snow this time, but the views from the top were nonetheless stunning. Whilst in Munich, they also visited the BMW Welt; the Allianz Arena; the Olympic Park for yet more walking and stunning views and experienced the magic of a German Christmas Market. On their final day, they had a go at movie-making in German at the Bavaria Filmstadt.
“It was a fun four days with a lot of new experiences. For many of us it was our first time flying as well. The hostel rooms were very nice and the food was good and varied. My favourite activity was spending time at the Christmas market. I enjoyed trying the food and drink and looking at the bright and beautifully handmade gifts. The Bavaria Filmstadt was definitely worth visiting again in years to come because the interactive parts were very fun and they will be hilarious to watch back on DVD . “ (Eleanor Lamb 9GD)
My thanks go to the staff who accompanied the group on this trip – Mrs Lamb, Mrs Threadgold, Mr Daggar, Mr Caba and also to the students involved, who were excellent ambassadors for our school and engaged in all the activities on offer. Photos from the trip will be available shortly to view on the school’s website.
