Outstanding A Level Results 2017
We are delighted to announce that the A Level results achieved by our students in 2017 equals the best set of results in the school’s history. The results maintain the excellent standards of attainment that are associated with the Boswells Sixth Form. The performance of the students this year has been superb and the school is exceptionally proud of all the students and their achievements.
This was an exceptional performance from all our Year 13 students. 55% of all grades awarded were at A*-B and 25% of all grades awarded were at A*/A. 84% of all grades were at A*-C and 99% of all grades awarded were pass grades in the 30 A Level subjects that the school offers. As well as our A Level results, the school was delighted with the performance of our students undertaking Level 3 BTECs with 67% of all grades awarded at Distinction* and 33% of grades at Distinction.
In Year 13, particularly outstanding results were achieved by:
Shoana Haddow: A* grades in Biology and Chemistry and A grades in Further Mathematics, Mathematics and Extended Project Qualification
Elliott Cramner: A* grades in Business Studies, Law and Extended Project Qualification and an A grade in History
Gemma Wilson: A* grades in Law, Mathematics and Extended Project Qualification and an A grade in Spanish
Michael Preston: A* grades in Mathematics and Extended Project Qualification and A grades in Further Mathematics and Physics
Laura McCauley: A* grades in Psychology and Sociology and an A grade in Law
Sophie Blackwell: A* grades in Mathematics and Extended Project Qualification, an A grade for Business Studies and B grades in Further Mathematics and German
The overwhelming majority of our students have achieved the grades to take up places at top universities to study a range of courses. A number of our students are also taking up prestigious courses at Higher Education institutions across the country.
Paul Banks, Executive Headteacher, was delighted with the results:
This is an outstanding set of results for our students and they should be incredibly proud of their achievements. Our A Level results equal the best results the school has ever achieved and this reflects the excellent effort of our students, the expertise and dedicated support from their teachers and the support from our parents. Our students have responded well to the excellent support and encouragement provided by their teachers and have been justly rewarded with outstanding results at A Level. What is equally impressive is that these results have been achieved across the 30 A Level subjects that we offer our students. At a time where new A Level qualifications and more challenging, higher grade boundaries have brought about fluctuating results nationally, it is very pleasing that our students have bucked the national trend to achieve these outstanding results.
