In order to gain entry into The Boswells Sixth Form all students must achieve a minimum of 42 points from their best 8 GCSE subjects, including a minimum grade 4 in English Language and Maths. This is calculated by adding up their points on the new numerical scale 1-9. Students with GCSEs using the old scale should add the points up as follows A*= 8, A =7, B=6, C=5, D=4, E=3, F=2, G=1
Students must achieve a minimum grade B/6 in any subject they wish to study at A level
In Year 12 most students follow a course of four A levels. In Year 13 students are expected to continue with a minimum of three subjects.
Applications can be made following the Sixth Form Open Evening in November. Upon receipt of the application form we will look carefully at the course selection and an interview with a member of Senior Leadership will be arranged to explore subject choice and give further advice. During the spring term of Year 11 we will send confirmation of places and details of the chosen subjects.
We also welcome applications from students attending other schools. Once an application has been received we will contact your existing school for a reference and a place will be offered following an interview.
