Art & Design
The Art Department has a range of extracurricular activities on offer that are designed to consolidate the learning that takes place in lessons, introduce new skills and techniques and challenge and excite students.
Drop in sessions are open to all students (years 7-13 )so they can discuss class work and Home Learning with their teacher and receive one to one support if necessary. These sessions are particularly useful for using our different materials and for printing photography work and Home Learning.
Key Stage 3 clubs are run by every teacher. Miss Wallis, Miss Armstrong and Miss Rees run general KS3 clubs open to years 7, 8 and 9 and follow different projects throughout the year. These clubs like to get involved with cross curricular projects such as whole school production and the Essex Book Awards.
Mrs Gravelle runs the Gifted and Talent club for years 7, 8 and 9. This is operated on an invite only basis and is rotated termly. The G&T Art list is revised on a half termly basis and is for students who are showing a talent in a particular aspect of art and design and have a great A2L.
Photography club is run by Miss Armstrong and is designed for students who would like to develop this medium into their GCSE coursework. This club is also going to be opened to year 9 students who are opting for GCSE Art next year.
