The Drama Department offer a wide range of extra-curricular clubs at lunchtime and after school. Each year group has at least one dedicated drama club. Year 10 and 11 also use club time to work on their BTEC practical coursework in conjunction with their class teacher. There are also clubs open to selected year groups – including Shakespeare festival and the Devising Box showcase. There is also the whole school production which is open to a mix of Year 8 through to 13.
In addition to the weekly clubs, we offer additional workshops and opportunities which have most recently included workshops on devising and clowning as well as to aid the characterisation for ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.
There is also opportunity for students to experience trips to the theatre both locally and in London, not only to broaden their experience but also for the older students to review as part of their coursework. Most recently we have taken students to see ‘Things I know to Be True’ at The mercury Theatre in Colchester and ‘Missing’ at Battersea Arts Centre in London.
