Jack Petchey Glee Club Challenge Bootcamp
Saturday 1st December marked the next stage of the prestigious Jack Petchey Glee Club Challenge 2019. It was the day of the very first Boot Camp and saw Boswells School and five other youth groups come together to share their 2 performances with the Jack Petchey Creative Teams. The creative team were really impressed with the students work and offered some really useful feedback and tips for further improvements to the pieces.
The 30 students taking part this year represent years 10-13 and all students are studying on either GCSE Dance, A Level Dance, BTEC Musical Theatre or BTEC Performing Arts.
The students are all thoroughly looking forward to the next stage which is the regional final itself, being held at The Civic Theatre, Chelmsford on Saturday 26th January. Four lucky groups will then progress to the Grand Final which is being held at the London Palladium in March.
This is the seventh year that the competition has been running, and The Boswells School has participated every year and it is one of the highlights of the Performing Arts Calendar. Previous grand finals have given the school group the opportunity to perform at The Savoy Theatre, The IndigO2, The Queen Elizabeth Hall (South Bank) as well as The Palace Theatre Southend and The Civic Theatre Chelmsford. The competition is fully funded by the Jack Petchey Foundation and places training, participation and competition on an even footing.
