Careers & Next Steps

Your future starts here

Your time at school is about more than qualifications. It is also an opportunity to discover what you enjoy, what you are good at and where your skills and interests could take you.

Our careers programme will help you explore different careers and pathways, understand the world of work and feel confident about making decisions about your future.

Explore your options

There are lots of different routes available after school, including:

  • Sixth form
  • College
  • Apprenticeships
  • Further education and training
  • University
  • Employment

There isn't one pathway that is right for everyone. Take time to explore your options and find the route that is right for you.

Make the most of opportunities

Throughout your time at school, you will have opportunities to learn more about careers and the world of work. Make the most of:

  • Careers advice and guidance
  • Careers fairs and employer events
  • Talks from employers and former students
  • Workplace experiences and visits
  • Work experience
  • Apprenticeship and further education information
  • Careers activities within your lessons

Ask questions, get involved and be open to discovering careers you may never have considered before.

Build your skills

Employers value more than qualifications. The skills you develop every day at school, including communication, teamwork, organisation, problem-solving, creativity, resilience and independence, will help prepare you for your future.

Think about the skills you are developing in your subjects and how you could use them in further study, training or employment.

Take charge of your next steps

You don't need to have your whole future planned now. Start by exploring your interests, strengths and ambitions, research different opportunities and ask for help when you need it.

Be curious. Explore your options. Take opportunities. Ask questions.

Your future has many possibilities, and we are here to help you discover them.
